We will be using a new challenge system for the 2016 Greco & Freestyle State Championships on April 22-23. The process is explained below:

Mat 1= Mat 1 will use a video review system along with the international challenge rules. If a coach chooses to challenge an officials decision, they will throw their block onto the mat. The official will review the video. If the score changes in favor of the challenging wrestler, the coach gets their block back and maintains the right to challenge additional decisions during the match. If the score does not change in favor of the challenging wrestler, the other wrestler will receive 1 point and the challenging coach will lose their block as well as forfeit the right to challenge calls for the remainder of the match. As many finals matches as possible will be pushed to Mat 1.

Mats 2-12= The rest of the mats will use a new ticket system for challenges. The ticket system will work similarly to the block system but with a few modifications. Each head coach will be given 2 tickets for every registered wrestler from their club for that day, (can be picked up at weigh-ins). The head coach can distribute challenge tickets however they choose. In order to challenge an officials decision on the mat, a coach must call the official up to the table and present a challenge ticket to the official. The official will then hear the challenge. If the score changes in favor of the the challenging wrestler, the coach gets their ticket back. If the score does not change in favor of the challenging wrestler, the challenging coach loses the ticket. A coach can challenge as many times in a match as they want as long as they have a challenge ticket.
