Team Utah Curriculum

Utah National Team Training Outline 2017-18

Our Curriculum is based off of past National Teams and what we think Team Utah needs to focus on to win a National Title. Down below we have listed the moves/positions for each style. We will have videos posted soon for each of the moves/positions.

Feet Position

1. Penetration to High Crotch

Penetration to an alternate High Crotch

Bottom Position

1. Knee Slide/ Balance

2. Power switch/ Stand ups

Top Position

1. Bar arm series/ Tilt series

Folkstyle

Feet:

  1. Penetration to shots
  2. Movement after shot
  3. Creating angles with hand fighting to shots
  4. Head position on shots (up and through)
  5. Short Arm on Front headlock offense/defense
  6. Scrambling (understanding scramble position)
  7. Re-attacks

Bottom:

  1. Knee slides and base balance
  2. Working and movement to get to feet (especially when guy stops first move).
  3. Stand-ups and Crossovers

Top:

  1. Initial Pressure
  2. Riding Both Sides
  3. At least two options for breakdowns (Chops, Claw, Blanket, Ankle-waist)
  4. Breakdown to tilts/pins

Freestyle/Greco

Freestyle

Feet:

  1. Chain Wrestling
  2. Takedowns to turns (especially lace)
  3. Down-block or sprawling to scoring positions

Top/Bottom:

  1. Leg lace offense/defense
  2. Guts (one strong gut and trapped arm) offense/defense
  3. Misdirect guts and laces

Greco

Feet:

  1. Stance and Position (Elbows in, chest to chest, Head up).
  2. Drags and Arm Spins
  3. Level Changes to create throws, ducks, and drags
  4. Binds (Two on one, over-under, double unders, double overs)

Top/Bottom:

  1. Lift offense/defense
  2. Gut offense/defense
