The Skyhawk Showdown is a tournament that keeps getting better.  It combines the best of both worlds, in that the format gets kids 9-10 matches over 2 days,  and it also has an individual tournament component that gives kids more and more challenging matches as the tournament progresses.  While it is not as strong as the Ironman or the L.I.T. it boasts some of the states very best teams, and without a doubt, the competition will be fierce.

What Competition looks like:

This is a fun tournament, it really consists of two tournaments, a scramble format on Day one where each wrestler is placed in a pool and wrestles four or five matches in a Round Robin.  Based off their record in the pools, the top2 kids from each are placed in a line bracket for Day 2 and the 3/4th place kids are bracketed together.  So on and they wrestle a completely new tournament on Day 2.

Who will be there:

Altamont, American Leadership Academy, Beaver, Davis, Desert Hills, Emery, Hillcrest, Hurricane, Kearns ,Logan ,Lone Peak ,Mountain View ,North Summit ,Ogden, Orem, Payson JV, Pleasant Grove JV,  Provo, Salem Hills,  Spanish Fork,  Springville,  Timpanogos, Timpview, Tooele,  Utah Military Academy and Woods Cross.

Key Questions that will be answered:

How good is Altamont?  Not as good as they are with Foy in the lineup, but the opportunity for kids to step up into a leadership role and the result will be interesting.

How good is ALA?  There have been whispers and hints that they will be pretty solid, but the test will be putting it all together on the mat.  This is the first test.
