Payson returns 8 state placers which ties Uintah and is more than Mountain Crest and they have an additional 5 state qualifiers back which is less than Uintah by 2 and more than Mt. Crest by 1. The difference between Payson and Mt. Crest and Uintah is the incoming freshman class. Both Mt. Crest and Uintah have freshman coming in that will make an immediate impact. For Payson to make a run at the state title this year they will need a full team effort. Their 8 returning state placers need to place high and their 5 returning qualifiers need to become state placers.

Getting Harrison Judd back will be a huge help, last year Judd came 4th at the Divisionals but was unable to compete at the state tournament and his only losses at Divisionals were against his own teammate Tyson Carter who placed 3rd at state. The biggest question mark surrounding Payson and if they can make a run at a state title is their depth. They have enough guys that can place high at state but do they have enough wrestlers that will compliment those placers and get some extra points?
