The Mustangs are coming off a state title and are hungry for another. Their success is going to rely heavily on their young studs and how well they will produce this upcoming season. They have four (yes I said four) Youth Super State Champions coming into their line up!!! They also have Jordan Wakefield who was a 2017 Northern State Champion back in their line up. You combine the 4 Super State champions with Wakefield and you have a group of young stars that could propel the Mustangs to the top again.

Coming back they have 5 state placers and an additional 4 state qualifiers. They will need Hunter Evans to step up and score big come February, last year he fell short even though he went into the state tournament with high hopes. Duvall their heavyweight placed 9th at divisionals and Huerta won the JV State so they need their big guys to produce. The keys to the Mustangs taking that state title again are:

1. The freshman 4 plus Wakefield have to produce big time in February

2. Hunter Evans scores big at state

3. Duvall and Huerta help bring in points from the big boys.

If those 3 things happen watch out for the Mustangs! The 4A state title isn't a lock for the Utes yet and if they aren't ready in February we just might see Mt. Crest steal their 2nd straight title.
