Sage Mortimer from ALA High School and Champions Wrestling Club became the first ever girl to place in men's Greco Roman Junior Nationals this past week placing 7th in the 100 pound weight class. Along with her 7th place finish in men's Greco Roman Sage steamrolled through the women's competition placing 1st in the Cadet Women's Freestyle and 2nd in the Junior Women's Freestyle.

In the girls division of the 11 girls Sage wrestled only 1 went the distance. In the Cadet division (her own age group) she had 3 pins and 2 techs including a 14-4 win in the finals. In the Junior division (girls 1 division older) Sage had 4 techs and 1 pin. She lost in the finals to World Champion Emily Shilson.

In the Boys Junior Greco Roman Sage went 2-2 winning for 7th place over Rhett Koppes from Kansas 14-10. Sage has set the stage for future years and future women to also take the leap and start competing more in Greco Roman and hopefully help lead the way to starting Girl's Greco Roman one day.
