After a second place finish in 2017 at the 5A State Tournament, the Vikings bounced back with a state title in 2018 and will be looking to make it 2 in a row this year.  The Vikings are lead by 2x state champion Maika Tauteoli and include 5 returning state finalists! Some of the question marks with the Vikings this year will be their lighter weights, as always their big guys will score a lot of points. They have a small log jam in the middle weights and my feeling is they will find a way to get both Zorn and Orum in the starting line up. Maybe Kelley moves down to 126, Ridge to 132 and Zorn or Orum slide in at 138. Cannon Carlson is a sleeper this year at 170 and will be a threat to disrupt the 6A at that weight.

All 6A teams will be chasing Pleasant Grove this upcoming year but the state title isn't a lock as there are many teams that will be on their heels. The main team to compete with PG is Layton and it could be another fun state tournament.  Pleasant Grove's strength is their firepower but their depth isn't bad. Can another 6A team with more depth or firepower creep up on the Vikings and steal a title? I'm not sure but I do think the 6A race could be a fun one again this year!
