Riverton High School

Rebecca Hamilton has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for August 16th, 2016.

Rebecca will be a junior at Riverton High School. She started out wrestling by being her brother’s practice dummy and going to practice with him. Then, Dwayne Henry told her they were starting a girls wrestling program, and she would soon practice with the girls and practice with the boys. (Tactik 3)

She practiced with the high school during regular season. In the spring she practiced at Riverton and Maple Mountain with Billy Cox. The first year (2015) there wasn’t anyone in her weight class to wrestle, this year she actually had an opportunity to compete. She took 1st in Utah’s Super State and In Utah’s Girls Freestyle. When she went to Nationals in Fargo she took 8th, what made her an All American.  She did very well, especially her first year competing in wrestling.

Rebecca is active in the Riverton High School FFA and shows lambs at the Salt Lake county fair. She loves raising livestock; cows, lambs and chickens.

Her goals are to compete with the Riverton High team and receive a scholarship for wrestling so she can pursue a career in agriculture.
