Micah Douglas has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for the week of February 17th, 2016

Micah is 12 years old (7th grade) and attends Summit Academy Charter School in Draper where he maintains a 3.9 GPA. Micah thrives on competing whether it is academics or sports. Micah enjoys many physical activities including football, snow skiing, water skiing, knee boarding, golf, ultimate Frisbee, and baseball, but his favorite by far is wrestling.

Micah has been on a steady upward progression in his wrestling career. The hardest year was having to sit out the 2013-2014 winter/spring season due to a fractured L-5 vertebrae suffered in the spring 2013 Greco Championship match. He spent 10 months in a back brace and weekly physical therapy visits. That season off allowed him to focus and he returned to wrestling in the fall of 2014 with a renewed outlook on wrestling. Micah has enjoyed practicing with many clubs this season including Westlake, Summit Academy, Charger Wrestling Club and Brighton.

Micah set a goal to place in the 2016 Jr. High Northern State tournament and was able to attain that goal this year. He is looking forward to putting on some muscle weight and hitting that growth spurt that many of his friends and fellow wrestlers have already hit. Micah is a great brother to his 2 other brothers and 1 sister as well as great friend to many. His parents look forward to watching him excel for many years to come.
