Austin Trapp has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for January 27th, 2016.

Austin is the oldest of six kids. He developed a love of wrestling as a small boy.  He constantly works extra hard and makes sure that he puts all his heart and will into everything possible in becoming a better wrestler. He has traveled across the state to work with several different coaches and teams. Even though Austin is not always seen wrestling during the off-season, he attends various camps to improve his skills.  Austin strives to be a good example on and off the mat, especially to his brothers and sisters.

Austin comes from one of the smallest schools in Utah. With only 17 kids in his graduating class, five of which are boys, he has had to work extra hard to excel in sports.  He achieved the runner-up position twice in Utah’s State Wrestling Tournament and became a Utah State Champion as a junior in 2015 at 132 lbs. In 2016, not only was Austin invited to participate in the coveted Utah All-Star Duals, but he won his All-Star Dual match.  Austin, a division 1A wrester, beat his division 5A opponent.  The Salt Lake Tribune interviewed him regarding his huge win at the tournament.  His All-Star Dual win is regarded as one of Austin’s biggest accomplishments. Austin knows that he has been successful throughout his high school wrestling career and looks forward with anticipation to see what the future holds.
