The Juab Winter Classic which takes place this Friday and Saturday will have some great match ups so make sure to check in on trackwrestling.com to find results. The tournament will start with 8 pools with each pool having 3 teams. The winner of each pool will advance to the Gold pool, 2nd place teams to the Silver pool and 3rd place teams to the Bronze pool.

Many of Utah's top 25 teams will be represented at this event including:

  • #4 Payson
  • #7 Juab
  • #13 Millard
  • #17 Salem Hills
  • #19 American Fork
  • #22 Fremont

In pool match ups most of the ranked teams are separated but in Pool 5 we do have a match up of #17 Salem Hills and #19 American Fork which will be one to keep an eye on. Pool 6 will have #22 Fremont up against recently dropped out North Summit. We expect all ranked teams to move on to the Gold pool (with the exception of Salem Hills or American Fork). The Gold pool is where things will get exciting!

Payson and Juab met at the Millard Ironman where Payson narrowly defeated Juab 37-31. We expect to see a battle here. Juab also met Millard at the Ironman where again it was a battle with Juab coming out victorious 36-30.

Individual match ups we could see that are exciting are:

  • 138lbs: #HM McKay Foy (Altamont) vs. #22 Zac Musselman (Monticello)
    • Top freshman Foy could have his first big test.
  • 138lbs: #22 Zac Musselman (Monticello) vs. #12 Jed Loveless (Payson)
    • If Monticello can get to the Gold pool these two could match up
  • 182/195: #13 McKade Cox (Gunnison) vs. #10 Ashton Seely (Juab)
    • Maybe this one is wishful thinking since they aren't the same weights but it would be fun....

The Juab Winter Classic will be a fun one just like the Wasatch Duals.....another great weekend to look forward to and good luck to all wrestlers!!
