MANHEIM, Pa. – Fresh off of an upset win over No. 18 Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon this past weekend, the Utah Valley University wrestling team is currently receiving votes for the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll for the first time in program history.

The poll, which comes out every Tuesday, has Utah Valley (2-3, 0-0 Big 12) just outside of the top-25 with two votes. The Wolverines are one of six teams that are currently receiving votes for the top-25 after dropping the Beavers from 18th to 23rd in the poll with a 20-19 victory over Oregon State last Saturday.

Senior 125-pounder Chasen Tolbert (5-0) moved into the top-10 in the national rankings for the first time in his career on Tuesday as well as he currently finds himself ranked eighth in his weight class by InterMat after knocking off No. 10 Ronnie Bresser of Oregon State by a score of 4-3 to help the Wolverines defeat the Beavers. The eighth-place ranking is one of the highest individual rankings in school history for Utah Valley, as former Wolverine greats Benjamin Kjar (125) and Flint Ray (133) are the only other wrestlers in program history to have cracked the top 10.

Fellow senior Derek Thomas (5-0 at 197 pounds) too finds himself ranked for the first time in his career this week after picking up an upset win of his own over No. 15 Cody Crawford of Oregon State by major decision (10-1) in the win over OSU last Saturday. Thomas debuts at 19th on this week's InterMat poll.

The Wolverines, who also hold a win over Michigan State of the Big Ten Conference on the season, will look to continue their winning ways when Boise State comes to town for UVU's home opener on Saturday, Nov. 28. The Big 12 vs. Pac-12 matchup will begin at 4 p.m. and will be contested in Utah Valley's PE Building.
