OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley University wrestling team will debut its 2015-16 roster for the first time on Friday night in the PE Building with the annual UVU Intrasquad Dual. The exhibition contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m. and admission to the public will be free of charge.

The dual will feature a full slate of highly anticipated matches that will be contested simultaneously on two mats.

"We're excited about this year's intrasquad. Not only will our studs be in action, but also our talented freshmen class," head coach Greg Williams said. "I did something creative for the contest, in which it will be mainly be the upperclassmen against the newcomers. It should be a really fun night where people will be able to see what the future is starting to look like for Utah Valley wrestling."

A total of 16 matches in all are tentatively scheduled to take part at Friday's intrasquad. Returning NCAA qualifiers and seniors Chasen Tolbert (125 pounds) and Jade Rauser (133) are both scheduled for action, as well as fellow seniors Ross Taylor (174) and Derek Thomas (197).

All nine newcomers are also slated to take the mat on Friday, as well as seven of the eight returning redshirts.

The contest will mark UVU's lone exhibition tune-up of the season, as it will officially begin its 2015-16 campaign at the Eastern Michigan Duals on Saturday, Nov. 7. There, the Wolverines will take on a trio of tough opponents in No. 11 Illinois, Michigan State and Rider (who is currently receiving votes for the top 25). Following a contest at No. 19 Oregon State on Nov. 21, Utah Valley will return to Orem for an early season home dual against the Pac-12 Boise State Broncos on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Despite going 2-9 overall and 1-4 in its final season of competition in the Western Wrestling Conference a year ago, the Wolverines -- who now call the Big 12 Conference home -- had a successful 2014-15 campaign that featured three NCAA qualifiers and a conference champion in Rauser. UVU welcomes back two of its three NCAA qualifiers this season, as well as seven of its 10 starters.
