Jeremy Evans has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for September 18th, 2015.

Jeremy  is honored to be selected as an Athlete of the Week by USA Utah Wrestling.   Jeremy loves wrestling and having the opportunity to get to know and compete with the many outstanding wrestlers in our great State.  Jeremy started wrestling in the 5th grade.  This past year as a 7th grader, Jeremy wrestled varsity for the Centerville Jr. High wrestling team which won the Davis District Team Championship.  In addition to wrestling with the Jr. High team, Jeremy wrestles with the TECH (Technique, Execution, Character, Honor) Wrestling Club, and the Utah United Wrestling Club.

Jeremy’s notable accomplishments this past year include:  2nd at Utah Freestyle State, 2nd at Utah Greco State, 2nd at Davis District Championship, 5th at Super State, 5th at the Intermountain Warrior Challenge, and 5th at the Beehive Brawl .  Jeremy’s goals in wrestling include helping his Jr. High team win another District Championship and eventually wrestling for Viewmont High School and competing for a team State Championship.  Jeremy also has a goal to place at the Salt Lake Slam Tour of America Tournament in January and to place in all three styles at the Western Regional tournament in Pocatello next June.  

In addition to Wrestling, Jeremy enjoys school, especially math and engineering classes.   Jeremy wants to be an Aeronautical Engineer.   Jeremy also enjoys participating in the scouting program.   He just completed his Eagle Scout project which included leading the effort to build wall mats for the Utah United Foundation wrestling facility.   Jeremy also participates in Track in the spring, competing in the 800m and mile events.  In his spare time he enjoys hanging out with his friends, going to Lagoon, and watching Agents of Shield and The Walking Dead.  

Jeremy would like to personally thank the many coaches that sacrifice so much of their time and energy in helping athletes develop the skills necessary to be successful in wrestling and in life.   Jeremy would especially like to thank Brayden Humphries, Ben Kjar, Alex Knight, Nate Larsen, Wayne Larsen, Brandon Ripplinger, Cole Sanderson, Shandell Smoot, Dereck Wesche, Dee Zesiger and the many other coaches throughout the state.  

Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week." One for the PreK-9th grade age groups, and one for the high  school  and above  age group  which will include high  school , college, coaches and teams. The selection committee will consider and choose from nominees based upon performance within wrestling that week.
