Tyson Humpherys has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for June 3rd, 2015.

Tyson Humpherys nicknamed" T-hump", and is the youngest of 5 kids,  comes from a long generation of wrestlers. When asked what his 2 great passions are in life, he will tell you it is both Wrestling and Football, but when you ask him which one he likes the most, he always says - "I love football most, but wrestling is who I am, and my future!"

Tyson's goals in life are to be a 3 time Super State Champion, a 4 time High School State Champion, place and win an NCAA title at some point in his college career, and his 2 favorite colleges are UVU and Iowa. Tyson's favorite college wrestler that he follows religiously is - Brent Metcalf.

Tyson's has had many accomplishments. He has won Super State twice, Placed in Several National Tournaments (including Reno twice), and just concluded his folk style season taking 3rd at the Iowa USA Schoolboy Nationals where he beat several prominent national wrestlers. In the State of Utah he has gone 2 years without a loss to a fellow Utah wrestler in both Free Style and Folk Style wrestling. In his Davis County Jr. High season, he was named "The Outstanding Wrestler" for Davis County Jr. High Wrestling.

Tyson's secondary love is football where he belonged on a team where they went all the way to the championship of 42 teams where they averaged 48 points a game, with only 3 touchdowns scored on them the whole season. Tyson was the captain of the defense playing middle line-backer, and on offense played running back. In his semi final game where they were playing one of the best teams in their league, one of the prominent running backs on the opposing team refused to come out onto the field and play because he refused to get hit another time by player #8 which just happens to be  Tyson's number.

Tyson is a determined young man who sets high goals for himself, he tries to keep straight A's at school, and has an unbelievable work ethic where he practices at both Crushers and Utah United, as well as 2 times a week driving down to UVU to work out with his brother Brayden Humpherys who is a current wrestler at UVU.  Tyson follows USA wrestling on their website, and is always checking on his competition. Tyson has a great love of family, wrestling, football, friends, religion, and loves his coaches (John Fager, Ben Kjar, his dad, and his brother Brayden). Tyson's favorite thing to do when not involved in all the practices and tournaments for these 2 sports is to hang out with his friends, and girls are optional.

Tyson is such a great pleasure to have as a son, and has so much energy, passion, and a love of life.
