Top 8 in each classification qualify for the Super State

The 3rd annual UHSAA Super State Championships Tournament is one event that top high school wrestlers across the state look forward to all year long, and one that spectators will not want to miss. This tournament gives top-notch athletes in the state the opportunity to prove themselves to be the best of the best. This tournament is open to all UHSAA State Classification placewinners, and wrestlers undoubtedly consider it an accomplishment to even qualify to compete here.

Trophies and awards will be given to the top 3 teams and the top 6 place winners. Each wrestler will receive a five pound weight allowance as well. Tournament Champions in each weight will also have the opportunity to represent Utah as they travel to either Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa or to Flonationals in Pennsylvania or NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach. The winner’s airfare and hotel rooms will be reimbursed by USA Wrestling Utah (up to $600) to whichever tournament they choose to participate in. The state will organize the trip to Flonationals but those wanting to attend Iowa can still get reimbursed.

In addition to the elite athlete participants, enthusiastic fans and anxious coaches, another group of people that will be attending the tournament are curious college scouts from all around the nation including, Western Wyoming, South Virginia, and Utah Valley University. They will be there scoping out potential wrestlers for their elite college programs. This event will also give parents, athletes and coaches a unique opportunity to mingle with the college coaches at a social at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday night at 6:30 pm.

This event is made possible by very generous and supportive sponsors who deserve to be recognized and thanked.  USA Wrestling Utah on behalf of wrestling community would like to express gratitude to Workers Compensation Fund (WCF), Comcast, Arches Health Plan, Zion’s Bank, Life Vantage, and America First Credit Union.

Admission for the event is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Wrestling will begin at 10am on Saturday, February 21st.
