The Equalizer

One of the greatest things about wrestling is that wrestlers are always going out of their way to challenge themselves. One of the greatest things about the leaders and coaches of this sport is that they are always trying to innovate, make things better, and provide opportunities for wrestlers to challenge themselves and become better. USA Utah’s newest way of doing that is a tournament called “The Equalizer” being held in Orem on the 15th of November.

“The Equalizer” is a tournament for Preschool-9th grade wrestlers, but the uniqueness of this tournament lies with the 7th-9th grade division. Wrestlers will wrestle through a regular bracket, just like normal, but the winner of each weight class will be paired with another winner from a separate weight class for a chance to become “The Equalizer” and win “The Equalizer” award. The paired up weights will be; 70/75, 80/85, 90/95, 100/105, 110/115, 120/125, 130/138, 146/155, 170/185, and 210/285. Although this year that particular attribute of the tournament will be exclusive to the 7th-9th grade divisions, we are excited to develop this concept and further expand the idea to other ages in coming years.

You can pre-register for this tournament on trackwrestling.com and find out more details about the schedule and technicalities of the tournament.  The registration deadline is Thursday, November 13th, at 6:00 pm and satellite weigh ins will be that same night, anytime before 8:00 pm. Start the folkstyle season off right by challenging yourself to become “The Equalizer”.
