Josh Jensen has been named wrestleutah.com " High School Athlete of the Week" for October 22nd 2014.

Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week." One for the PreK-9th grade age groups, and one for the high school and above age group  which will include high school, college, coaches and teams. The selection committee will consider and choose from nominees based upon performance within wrestling that week.

Josh Jensen is a senior at Payson High School with a 3.9 GPA.  He began wrestling at age 6 after bringing home a flyer from kindergarten and begging his parents to sign him up. He loved the sport immediately and wanted to go to every tournament he could even though he often weighed 10 pounds less than the lightest weight class in his division. Although he did have some rough seasons, he always stayed positive and learned how to adapt quickly always looked forward to opportunities to compete against the best wrestlers in the country.  

 

Josh has had great experiences at all levels of the sport.  He was the 106 pounds high school state champion as a sophomore, placed 3rd at 120 pounds as a junior and starts his senior season with 122 high school career wins.  He is a 2-time freestyle state champion and has represented Utah at the Junior National Duals for the past 2 years.  He has stood on the medal stand for many national and regional events. Josh is a true student of the sport and enjoys traveling all over the state to train with different programs and learn from new coaches and workout partners.  Josh recently decided to continue his wrestling career after high school by verbally committing to the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.

In addition to his love of competition, Josh loves the social aspect of the sport and has made many lifelong friends with wrestlers all over the state and country.  When he isnt wrestling or studying the sport, Josh also enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and ping-pong.
