132 POUND PRESEASON RANKINGS

Yes we did it, we ranked an incoming freshman, Brock Hardy, #1 to start the season. Before you criticize let's take a look at a list of some of his accomplishments: 2014 USA Triple Crown winner (National Folkstyle, Freestyle & Greco Champion). Not only did he win the triple crown he won it in convincing fashion; out of the three national tournaments that make up the Triple Crown Brock only had one match that went the distance and that was a 7-0 win in his semifinal match at the folkstyle nationals. Two years in a row he went undefeated at the Schoolboy Duals, which is one, if not, the toughest tournament for schoolboys. Over the two year span at the Schoolboy Duals he went 33-0 with 26 techs, 7 pins and 1 decision. Oh and did I mention he has wins over 2x state champion Ben Anderson, 2x state champion and National Champion Taylor LaMont, 2014 Junior Fargo All-American Jayden Pentz all this past off season. Still not convinced? Just wait until the season begins and cast your own judgement.

Ben Anderson from Pleasant Grove is our #2 ranked wrestler. Yes he has an off season loss to Brock Hardy but sometimes the off season is a little different than in season so I wouldn't write Ben off just yet. Ben is a tough wrestler and I expect to see some battles between our #1 Brock and the #2 Ben. Jayden Pentz is ranked #3 and showed everyone this off season that he is not to be overlooked. Jayden placed 8th at the Junior National Championships in Fargo this July and will look to knock off Brock and Ben.

Delta's Bracken Lovell comes in at #4. The returning state champion placed 4th at the Rumble and had a win over Idaho State Champion and Cadet Greco National Runner-up Jaron Chavez. Returning freshman state champion, Ryan Hansen is ranked #5. Ryan ran through the competition last year at the state tournament. He won his finals match 10-0! This year won't be so easy with Hardy in his way.

Jackson Wilson from American Fork is #6. Jackson placed 2nd in state losing to senior Andrew Astle but had a great season going 49-8. He is going to have to defeat a 2x state champion, Ben Anderson, to get on top of that podium this year. Lukas Erickson from Olympus is ranked #7. Lukas wrestles year round and gets better each year, he won the Greco state title this off season.

Seth Rich is back on the mat and although he didn't wrestle last year we gave him the #8 ranking. Seth could be x-factor at this weight since he has had a year off and we don't know what to expect. Let me remind you though, before he got hurt in the spring of 2013 he did have a win over Brock Hardy in Freestyle so do not count Seth out.

David Kim wrestled Jackson Wilson in the semifinals at state last and lost 6-5. One point away from getting to the state finals, instead he had to injury default down to 6th place. Kim is close but will need to put together a full season to stay in and move up the rankings. 2x state runner-up Austin Trapp rounds out our rankings at #10. This off season Austin pinned Lovell at the Pleasant Grove tournament so there is potential for him to pull the upset.
