126 POUND PRESEASON RANKINGS

Kedric Coonis comes in ranked #1 to start the season. The Junior from Uintah capped off a 45-5 season with a state championship last year and now looks to reign supreme in the whole state.

Payson's senior Josh Jensen will look to knock off Coonis for the top spot. Jensen won state as a sophomore but placed 3rd last year. If both Jensen and Coonis end up at 126 pounds it will be a great state finals match. Trevor Lowe comes in at #3. Trevor placed 3rd at The Rumble with wins over Matt Lee, Chandler Strand, Marshall Curtis and Jarrid Lavios.

The #4 ranked wrestler is 2x State Champion Matt Lee of South Summit. Matt seems to always show up for the state tournament and gets the job done. He is looking to become a rare 4x state champion but could have some roadblocks to get through. One of those roadblocks could come from #5 ranked Kyle Evans of Beaver. Matt Lee got the best of Evans last year in the state finals but Evans has been working hard in the off season. A freshman, Taten Ringel comes in at #6. Taten is one that could be another potential roadblock for Matt and Kyle both. If those three end up in the same weight that will be one of the best weights to watch at the state tournament.

Jakob Discher is growing and possibly could end up at 132 pounds but for now we have him at #7. Discher placed 3rd at state beating Karther Knight of Mountain Crest for the 3rd place match. Only going to be a sophomore though so you could see him move up the rankings. 3x state champion, Brady Farnsworth comes in at #8. Brady had some good quality wins over Colledge of Spanish Fork and Marshall Curtis but also lost to Curtis and Llewellyn at The Rumble. Jake Barton of Bingham is ranked #9 and with wins over Trent Kelly last season and Dylan Gregerson in the off season to go along with his 3rd place finish at state definitely deserves that spot.

Colton Berger starts the season at #10. Colton placed 5th at state in 2012 and 3rd in 2013 and hopes to win it this year. In 5A the only one ranked ahead of him is Jake Barton so that state title is certainly within reach.
