113 pound preseason all-class rankings

  1. Kyson Levin (Senior) - Pleasant Grove
  2. Jaxon Cole (Sophomore) - North Summit
  3. Cameron Hunsaker (Junior) - American Fork
  4. Jed Loveless (Sophomore) - Payson
  5. Corbin Smith (Sophomore) - Wasatch
  6. Tanner Benedict (Sophomore) - Layton
  7. Trevor Poulsen (Senior) - Delta
  8. Raynger Keckler (Sophomore) - Logan
  9. Bryce Brimhall (Senior) - Syracuse
  10. Brandyn Van Tassell (Freshman) - Maple Mountain

If all these wrestlers are at 113lbs this could stack up to be a very tough weight class. We have three wrestlers at this weight that are on track to win 4 state titles (Levin, Cole & Loveless) plus a Fargo All-American in Cameron Hunsaker. Kyson Levin is the clear #1 here as he is looking for his fourth state title. It will be interesting to see if Cole and Hunsaker can hang with him. #2 and #3 were very close in Cole and Hunsaker. They each beat each other last year but with Cole winning the last match we gave the edge to Cole. Jed Loveless comes in at #4 and after winning a state title as a freshman it is well deserved.

After #4 this is where it gets tough. We gave the nod at #5 to Corbin Smith of Wasatch, he placed 3rd at state and had quality wins during the season over teammate Braiden Parker, Kade Evans (ranked #1 at 106), & Raynger Keckler.

Tanner Benedict gets the #6 spot. He only came 5th at state but his loses were to Hunsaker and Kade Evans. He then came back and avenged two early season loses to Keckler at Super State. Tanner started the season rocky but came on strong towards the end and we expect him to continue that momentum into the 2014-2015 season.

Trevor Poulsen comes in at #7 with his 2nd place finish at State losing a heartbreaker to Jaxon Cole. #8 Raynger Keckler stumbled a bit at the State Tournament finishing 5th but came back to beat Brimhall at Super State and had a couple wins over Benedict during the year.

Bryce Brimhall will look to climb the rankings quickly next year but will start at #9. He had loses to Keckler and Benedict at Super State and a 4th place finish at 5A state. I would expect to see Brimhall mix things up in the rankings quickly. Van Tassell comes in at #10, he had some great wins on the National level last year as an 8th grader so it will be exciting to see if he can continue that success at the High School level.
