The Utah Schoolboy Dual Team competed June 5-8 at the prestigious USA Wrestling Schoolboy Duals in Indianapolis, Indiana. Schoolboys are comprised of wrestlers that were born in 2000 or 2001. This year’s team featured 4 wrestlers that returned from last year’s team (Zak Kohler, Isaac Wilcox, Brock Hardy and Brady Briskey) and despite only having 4 returners finished 10th out of 35 teams in Greco and 11th out of 36 teams in Freestyle.

The tournament started off with the Greco portion of the tournament on the 5th and 6th of June and ended with Freestyle on the 7th and 8th of June. Brock Hardy led the way in both styles going undefeated and only surrendering 6 points in 16 matches and finishing all matches by pin or tech fall.  

In the Greco portion of the tournament Utah defeated Missouri 56-16 then lost to Minnesota 42-33 and defeated New Jersey 43-30, and lost to Oklahoma 40-34. They then advanced to the medal rounds and defeated Minnesota’s second team 53-22, Colorado’s second team 71-6 and then lost again to Oklahoma 43-29 to place 10^th. Utah wrestlers with 1 loss or less in Greco were:  Brock Hardy (7-0), Gavin Ayotte (7-1) Stockton O’brien (7-1), Logan Jensen (7-1), Isaac Wilcox (4-1), Zackary Johnson (4-0), and Zac Musselman (6-1).

In the Freestyle portion Utah defeated Idaho 61-20, defeated Oklahoma Blue 67-9, defeated Colorado 39-36, lost to Illinios 43-33 and lost to Missouri 39-32. In the medal rounds Utah defeated Nebraska 64-13, defeated Arizona 50-27, lost to Ohio 44-32 and then defeated Kansas 55-25 to take 11^th place. Wrestlers in Freestyle with 1 loss or less: Brock Hardy (9-0), Tyson Humphreys (7-1), Mason Christiansen (5-1), Logan Jensen (8-1), Zac Musselman (7-0).

Next year the Utah Schoolboy Team which will be made up of wrestlers born in 2001 and 2002 and will be attending the 2015 USA Wrestling Schoolboy Duals (location TBD). For those wishing to qualify for this team next year and help Utah follow up with a great year in 2015 you will need to qualify through the Utah State Greco and Freestyle Championships April 24^th and 25^th, 2015 at the Legacy Center in Farmington Utah.
