Hailey Cox has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for April 16th, 2014.
Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week." One for the PreK-9th grade age groups, and one for the high school and above age group which will include high school , college, coaches and teams. The selection committee will consider and choose from nominees based upon performance within wrestling that week.
Hailey Cox will be representing the USA as a 2014 Pan American team member competing in the Women's Cadet Wrestling Championships next month in Recife, Brazil. She is 14 years old and attends Mapleton Junior High School where she is the eigth grade class president. She loves horse back riding, camping, school, and of course wrestling! Her wrestling career began in 2009 and includes some of the following highlights. She has wrestled and been team captain for the past two years on the boys junior high team, completing this season undefeated. In 2012, Hailey won the Super State title and was awarded the Iron Thuma Award for Athletic Excellence! She is now excited to begin her pursuit of international competition and the Olympics. Recently, in Oklahoma City, Hailey won cadet girls Folkstyle Nationals and will be competing in May for the girls Freestyle National title. Good luck Hailey Cox!
