Mountain View went 4-0 at the Turkey Dart duals, defeating host Davis 39-27 in the championship match Wednesday.

Both Mountain View and Davis went 3-0 in pool action and met in the championship match. The dual went down to the wire, but with the scored tied 27-27, the Bruins won the last two bouts by pin to win the meet.

Davis actually held a 21-15 lead but Mountain View actually won four of the last five bouts, all by pin, to take control.

Mountain View head coach Chad Blevins was pleased with the results of the tournament as the Bruins won both the varsity and junior varsity tournaments.

"The Davis tournament was a neat experience for Mountain View wrestling," Blevins related. "We had a close match with Davis in the finals, both teams won seven matches but we got the pins. Special performances came from Scott Stokes, Micah Gill, Micah Ngatuvai, Gabe Baca, Julio Ortiz and Gavin Cavalli. I was proud of my junior varsity squad for taking first place also. We have a special group of freshman and sophomores that are leading the jayvee team."

Blevins also praised the Dart program.

"Davis is a strong program, and will be incredible over the next two years because they only have one or two seniors on their whole team."

Both Mountain View and Davis competed the day before in the Wrestling Against Cancer Duals, hosted by Provo High School, where the Darts defeated Westlake 35-29, but Mountain View was defeated by Layton 40-20. The Bruins were able to bounce back with a sound tournament, defeating Roy, Clearfield and Brighton soundly in the pool competition.

Meanwhile, Davis took care of business in the pool part of things by beating Corner Canyon, Provo and Woods Cross.
