The ladies of Utah are gearing up for an exciting week as they take the national stage! Both the Junior and 14U girls teams from Utah are headed to the 2025 USA Wrestling Women’s National Dual Championships, ready to battle the nation’s best in Westfield, Indiana. These fierce ladies have been training hard and are fired up to represent the Beehive state.

Junior Team: Girls Bring the Heat

The Junior Girls Team is loaded with experience, featuring multiple Utah state champions and even national titleholders. As girls wrestling continues to grow rapidly throughout the county, we’re excited to see some solid experience coming from this squad along with the fresh faces joining this year’s team. Here is a handful of Utah’s Junior squad, backed by multiple solid wrestlers they share the team with.

  • Tilisa Matakaiongo is Utah’s most decorated national competitor on the team, a 4× state champ and a repeat USA Folkstyle National Champion. She’s patient in her setups, and has a terrifying ability to throw her opponents around with near perfect timing. We will be looking to Tilisa as one of Utah’s leaders to inspire and motivate her teammates with her proven experience.
  • Evie Davidson is possibly one of Utah’s most well rounded competitors in both boys and girls divisions. She’s progressed incredibly in her technique, and when she attacks; it’s done with aggression. Evie brings a solid background of experience with her, and is not phased by high pressure matchups. From state championships, to All Star matchups, Evie isn’t afraid to step up to the plate. Look for her to hit some big lifts and throws at this event.
  • Nia Hagler is a multi time USAW All-American, with top-eight finishes in U17/Junior national events, including the 2024 Marine Corps Nationals. I don’t recall a match with Nia where I wasn’t on the edge of my seat as she drives an incredible pace and is crazy strong. Nia will land on a highlight clip from the moves she hits. Watch for her to electrify the team and drive energy for her squad.
  • Payton Gines and Andi Stephensen will share the spot at 110lbs, and they are an absolute one-two punch. Representing Utah’s 6A and 3A classifications; these two both carry a reputation as fierce competitors who do not quit. Both are tough, and position their moves with a purpose. It’ll be exciting to see how they are utilized together for the team.
  • Eva Zimmerman just earned her third straight 6A state title, anchoring the lineup with veteran leadership. Eva is poised, and very patient. She does a great job dictating the pace of her matchups, and when she strikes her attacks; they’re fast and can go any direction. I’d expect a great performance from Eva for this event as she continues to improve at every event she attends.
  • Jeanine Field has absolutely blossomed in this sport, and continues to win big matches. She’s no stranger to lacing up her shoes and facing opponents as both the favorite, and as an underdog. She doesn’t care who’s in front of her, and wrestles at a tenacious pace with every opponent she has across from her. Look for her to make a name for herself on the national scene through this event, and leading up to Fargo.
  • Meleana & Clarion Fager (sister duo winning dual 6A titles) round out an elite, deep lineup pushing for gold. These two both excel in their matches and rise to the occasion in big moments. Both are great at setting up throws, and inside trips to finish their opponents. I’d anticipate consistent points for Team Utah with these two.

Many of these athletes have earned Utah’s Triple Crown (folkstyle, freestyle, Greco) this season—making them well-prepared for the national dual format. This group, along with their teammates have an opportunity to place themselves on the map nationally at this event.

14U Team: Rising Stars Ready to Cement Their Future

Utah’s Girls 14U team is brimming with young talent and future high school stars. A strong core of Utah’s Triple Crown winners — Audrey Eller, Audrey Deeter, Lily Blakesley, Avery Colvin, Harlym Ward, and Kaelyn Alleman — shows their dominance across Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman this season. They’re backed by up-and-comers like Tawni LaRose, Demi Hoskins, Kyndal Halgren, Hallie Myers, and more, each having earned their spot on the squad through hard-fought qualifiers and regional success. These young athletes are eager, prepared, and ready to show what Utah youth wrestling is all about.

A Fond Farewell to Coach Geneva Gray

This year’s Duals carry a little more weight for Team Utah— as it’s the final national Duals event with Geneva Gray serving as Utah’s National Women’s Director. Geneva’s leadership helped build and grow the girls wrestling program statewide. Now she moves to SLAM! Academy in Nevada. Her legacy—camps, clinics, national guidance, and heartfelt mentorship—will be carried forward by every athlete she’s impacted. We thank her and wish her the best in her new role. Following the duals, we’ll prep for the Fargo Nationals with Coach Gray to cap off her time here in Utah with our girls.

Both teams are ready to compete for Utah. Let’s rally behind them, tune in to the matches on FloWrestling, and flood social media with support for these girls. They have earned every bit of this spotlight.

Let’s go girls! Go Team Utah!
