2023 Kid's National Championships
Last week Utah hosted the 2023 Kid's National Championships in Farmington, Utah. This was an outstanding event for all who participated but we are very grateful most of all that our Utah wrestlers got to take advantage of having a National Championship right in our own backyard. We had about 65 Utah wrestlers participate in the Greco-Roman event and 87 Utah Wrestlers participate in the Freestyle event. Below is a small breakdown of some of the accomplishments and All American Honors earned from our Team Utah wrestlers.
1 Triple Crown Winner, 3 Double Champions, 11 National Champions & 86 Total All American Honors Earned By Utah Wrestlers
Riker Ohearon Wins Triple Crown Award
This accomplishment is an incredible feat that has only been done once in the history of Utah wrestling. Last week Riker Ohearon became the 2nd wrestler in Utah History to win the USA Wrestling Triple Crown Award for winning National Championships in Folkstyle back in April and in Greco-Roman & Freestyle last week.
The last wrestler to achieve the USA Wrestling Triple Crown Award from Utah was Box Elders Brock Hardy in 2014 when he was the same age as Riker. When we spoke with Brock about Riker's Award all Brock could say was "Congratulations Riker, I only did it once. Now go win more than me."
