TEAM OVERVIEW:

Last season, UVU wrestling Alumni Max Sultan took over the Maple Mountain Program and a new era began.  A traditional 5A powerhouse, the Golden Eagles performed well in the first year of Sultan's leadership despite being down in comparison to their storied past.  This season, the Maple Mountain team will take steps towards making major progress towards rebuilding to the level of the last decade.  Andrew Jensen will be a force for the Golden Eagles, the Junior just knows how to win big matches when they count.  Brock Morris will look to finish his senior year atop the podium.  he has the skills to do it.  Dynamic low-level attacks and hard riding on top will help him along the way.  Cooper Cox will look to finish his career with a title as well, Cox is one of the few Utah HS wrestlers with a Fargo All American plaque on his wall, can he achieve at that level again?  I think so.  One other eagle who will look to make a name for himself is Quinlan Jackson, the senior is a solid wrestler who was a last-second takedown away from a berth to the finals last year.  If these upperclassmen can lead, and a group of young wrestlers can follow their lead, Maple Mountain can be in the mix earlier than most think.

RETURNING RANK:

RETURNING POINTS:

Impact Newcomers:

Cash Canto: Cash is a solid, athletic wrestler.  He has been on the podium for American Leadership Academy in the past, and will look to help a new team find success.

Hixon Canto:  Cash's younger brother Hixon comes to MMHS as a Freshman and will be an immediate contributor.  Hixon has won just about everything there is to win in age group competition and will look to continue that success at the High School level.

Tanner Kay:  Tanner is a cousin to the long line of Kays who have donned a Maple Mountain singlet and stepped on the podium at State.  Look for Tanner to be a perennial point scorer of the same ilk.

Ammon Curtis: Ammon has been working hard over the offseason to improve, get stronger and prepare for his Freshman year.  He is no stranger to getting awards at the end of a weekend,  he has place at Super State, the Beehive Brawl and other big tournaments.  Look for him to continue that.

Chris Rodriguez: Chris is new to the sport,  he has only been wrestling for a couple of seasons, has never been to a big tournament, but he is a competitor.  He is strong and agile and will find his stride at this level and be a kid who impacts the 5A. You heard it here first.
