Westlake's Girls Coaching Staff (Ben Szabo, Cody Burdett & Emily Finlinson) Receive NWCA Awards

Westlake's High School girls coaching staff, Ben Szabo, Cody Burdett and Emily Finlinson all earned NWCA awards. Ben Szabo won the Utah Girls Coach of the Year while Cody Burdett and Emily Finlinson both won the Utah Girls Assistant Coach of the year awards. NWCA ANNOUNCES 2020 HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS STATE COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNERS

Westlake High School's Head Coach, Ben Szabo has been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) High School Girls Head Coach of the Year for the state of Utah. In winning the State Coach of the Year honor, Coach Ben Szabo became a finalist for the NWCA National Girl's Coach of the Year Award.

Coach Ben Szabo's accomplishments include the following:  Girls wrestling in Utah is new and Westlake took the bull by the horns and had 35 girls out for their all-girl team in its first year this year. They won the girls state tournament in February and look to be a dominant program heading into the years to come as it is sanctioned by the Utah High School Activities Association.

Westlake High School's Assistant Coaching Staff has been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) High School Girls Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year for the state of Utah. In receiving this honor, the staff became finalists for the NWCA National Girl's Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
