113

1. Will Korth (So.) Morgan

2. Bridger Ricks (So.) Box Elder

3. Quade Smith (Jr.) Layton

4. Blake Woolsey (So.) Morgan

5. Heath Clyde (So.) Wasatch

6. Brock Morris (Jr.) Maple Mountain

7. Luke Schroeder (So) Mountain Crest

8. Keaton Sperry (So) Juab

9. Ethan Boulton (Fr) Payson

10. Ryder Robinson (Fr) Wasatch

113 is a fun weight, not quite as much parity as say 120, but considerably more than most other weights.  Morgan and Wasatch both have 2 in the top 10 and 5A has half of the ranked guys.  Ricks and Korth wrestled at the first tournament of the year and at the last one.  They split with Korth getting the better of the last meeting. Their contrasts in style as well as the similarities make this a fun match.   For the sake of Utah wrestling fans, it would be nice if we could get a chance to see them wrestle every week this spring just to keep us satisfied.  Oh wait! We probably can!  Quade Smith won his second title in the 6A he has two losses on the year to Bridger, but seemed to handle the rest of his opponents at 113, yet somehow, he missed meeting Korth this season.  The second Trojan on the list, Blake Woolsey is the 4th best wrestler in the state at 113 he holds wins over many competitors below him on this list.  Heath Clyde and Ryder Robinson make this list at #5 and #10, their performances in February helped pave the way for another gold trophy to make its way back to Heber.  Brock Morris slides to #6 after dropping a couple of tough matches one to Clyde at State and the other to Woolsey at the Rumble.  Unfortunately, after #6 it gets kind of messy.  Schroeder beat Boulton at Richardson, placed behind Sperry at the Davey Swenson.  But I give him the edge at least this week because of his 4A title.  Robinson has an argument for a higher spot, as he has the highest Rumble placement, but slots in at 10 because of State and a loss to Boulton in the consis.  Sperry, lost to Robinson at the Rumble, but beat Boulton in the next match, and Boulton placed 4th in 5A and has wins over Schroeder and Sperry this year.  Another name to watch who could make this list is Cal Christiansen of Fremont, he has a win over Boulton and made the 5A final.

152

1. Cade Bowring (Sr.) Juab

2. Josh Armstrong (Jr.) Hurricane

3. Bryar Meccariello (Jr) Emery

4. Marcus Espinoza-Owens (Fr) Viewmont

5. Heston Wood (Sr.) Salem Hills

6. Austin Gillette (Sr) Farmington

7. Josh Rassi (Sr.) Syracuse

8. Caleb Marx (Sr) Box Elder

9. Dean Thompson (Sr.) Altamont

10. Quade Jones (Sr) Desert Hills

Cade Bowring is the best 152 in the State, He won the Rumble and finished the season with his 3rd State Championship. He has two losses on the year, both to kids at different weight classes. What is in store in the future for the Wasp?  I hear rumors of Football and Wrestling at the next level.  Whichever path Cade decides, Juab will miss his contributions.   #2 Josh Armstrong put together a great season the Junior at Hurricane High won a 4A title and made the Rumble final. He has some huge wins in his career, it’ll be fun to watch him next season.  Bryar Meccariello placed 3rd at the Rumble, and placed second in the 3A, always a cradle away from any match, the Spartan should be a serious contender next season if he can make strides in the offseason.  Freshman phenom Marcus Espinoza-Owens won a title in the 5A, well coached and humble, the Viewmont star will be a serious threat for 3 more years.  Heston Woods had a very solid career for Salem Hills. Unfortunately for him, his season was cut short in the med check line in a controversial decision by UHSAA Staff despite having a note from a dermatologist clearing him for competition.  Austin Gillette had a solid season for the Phoenix.  A cornerstone and leader of the Farmington team, Austin will be missed. He has wins over #7 Josh Rassi who won 6A, #3, and split with #8 Caleb Marx who won in the Semis at State. Marx who had a brilliant run in the postseason makes it in at #8.  Of course, there is an argument for Marx to be higher.  He had a good season, and beat Gillette at State and Espinoza -Owens on the year, but lost to Rassi multiple times on the year. who Gillette beat.  The 6A champ comes next in at 7 and can now get on with Greco.   2A Champion Dean Thompson of Altamont and 4A Runner up Quade Jones of Desert Hills holds down the #9 and #10 spot
