Hone prepped at Cedar High School where he was a four-time state champion and national champion before he went to Stillwater. This weekend at the Southern Scuffle, Hone picked up wins over a pair of All-Americans Tariq Wilson (NC State) and Kyle Shoop (Lock Haven) on his way to a third place finish. Nice job, Dusty!
Richardson travelled to California for the prestigious Doc Buchanan and was Utah’s highest placer with a fourth place finish at 170 pounds. He entered the tournament seeded 11 and knocked off several wrestlers ranked ahead him on his way to the semifinals.
This weekend, Pentz had a breakout performance at the 3A Duals. He went 9-0 at 120 pounds with eight falls and a tech fall. His dominant run included wins over Joseph Mecham and Byron Christiansen.
Scheurn went 9-0 at the 2A duals with seven falls, a tech fall and avenged one of his losses from last season with a 12-5 win over returning state champion, John Whittaker. Scheurn is undefeated this season and there’s some very interesting matchups for him at 170 pounds for the All-Star Dual.
Returning state finalist, Deegan Palmer went undefeated at the 5A duals. He won five matches by fall and scored an upset decision over Parker Frasure.
