The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

  1. Kade Carlson (Sr.) Corner Canyon - 2019 State Runner Up (6A)
  2. James Tomasi (Sr.) Provo - 2019 State Champion (5A)
  3. Weston Warr (Sr.) Fremont - 2019 State 5th place (6A)
  4. Daniel Tuiono (Sr.) East - 2019 State 4th place (5A)
  5. Carson Peterson (Sr.) Gunnison - 2019 State Runner Up (2A)
  6. Joseph Watson (Sr.) Jordan - 2019 State 5th place (6A)
  7. Traycee Norman (Sr.) Herriman - 2019 State 6th place (6A)
  8. Logan Fraser (Sr.) Bear River - 2019 State 6th place (4A)

The 6A division is going to be tough at 285lbs this year with 4 of the 8 ranked  in this division. All of them are seniors so maybe it thins out after this year. Kade Carlson makes the move up to heavyweight, which toughens up this weight. One of the top wrestlers in Utah overall will test his skills against the big boys. James Tomasi will be a challenge for Kade, Tomasi is very athletic and didn't lose many matches last year. Weston Warr at number three has continued to get better each year. He had a solid season last year and got better as the season went on, I would expect more of the same and Fremont will welcome his points come February.

Daniel Tuiono is the lone wrestler from East in the rankings. He had a win over Kaden Montano who beat Warr at state so he has the ability to beat the better kids. Carson Peterson placed second in state behind a tough Tanner Sorensen from North Sevier last year. Will be the top 2A heavyweight coming back. Jordan Watson from Jordan is one that I can see climbing the rankings. Will start at 6 but I won't be surprised to see him move up into the top 4. Norman from Herriman is a solid wrestler who had some ups and downs last season. For him to stay in the rankings he will need to be more solid his senior season. Coming in at number eight from Bear River is Logan Fraser. Fraser wrestled Warr to an overtime match last year so he isn't far off from the top heavyweights.

It will be a fun year to watch the big men, all eight wrestlers ranked to start the season are seniors. What underclassmen can break into the rankings this year? Who will take the top spot once all these seniors are gone? Many questions to be answered over the next few months!
