The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

220 pounds

  1. Emerson Conlon (Sr.) Olympus - 2019 State Champion
  2. Hunter Larsen (Sr.) Sky View - 2019 State 3rd place
  3. MacIntyre Thacker (Jr.) Altamont - 2019 State runner up
  4. Anthony Stockwell (Sr.) Westlake - 2019 State 3rd place
  5. Shan Jackson (Jr.) Juab - 2019 Sate Champion
  6. Kolton Kammeyer (Sr.) Fremont - 2019 State Champion
  7. Cael Richardson (Jr.) Timpview - 2019 State 3rd place
  8. Philip Boban (Sr.) Pleasant Grove - 2019 State 4th place

This was a tough weight to rank, especially the top 4 kids. They all have an argument to be number one, but only one can take the top spot.  In the end we went with Emerson Conlon because of his big win over Kade Carlson in the state finals.  Conlon also placed 7th at Reno and was the only one of the top 4 to win a state title.  Conlon did lose to Thacker who we have at number three but with how he ended the season with a huge win we are basically saying that big of a win trumped his head to head loss to Thacker.   Hunter Larsen from Sky View takes the 2nd spot because of his head to head win over Thacker, he had a solid season as well overall. Obviously his claim to the number one spot is that he beat Thacker and Thacker beat Conlon.

MacIntyre Thacker comes in at #3 because of his head to head loss to Larsen. Thacker has a big argument to be over Conlon because he does have a head to head over him. We moved Stockwell down to #4 because even though he beat Conlon at the Atlas All-Star dual it was after the season in a much more relaxed environment and he didn't have any significant wins during season over the above guys.

Shan Jackson from Juab is number 5, had a solid season with a win over our #6 Kolton Kammeyer and won a state title to cap off the season. Kolton didn't have a crazy good season but ended with a state title with some upsets on the way. Cael Richardson is Timpview's only wrestler in the rankings at #7. Richardson lost to Conlon in the semifinals at state and came back and placed 3rd. Finishing up the top 8 we have Philip Boban from Pleasant Grove. Boban placed 4th at state and 5th at the Rumble. Solid wrestler which should help Pleasant Grove be strong in the upper weights. Another Pleasant Grove wrestler who will be in the rankings quickly will be Spencer Tauteoli. We decided not to start him in the rankings as he didn't wrestle last season due to injury so we will wait until he competes but if/when he competes I am sure he will be competing for a top spot at 220 or 285, whichever he ends up at.
