Where are they now?

Each week for the next few weeks we will have a write up about our past Utah athletes that have graduated high school and where they are wrestling now.  For this weeks, Where are they now? The spotlight will be on our very own, Utah Valley University. 

Taylor Lamont- is a Redshirt Sophomore from Mapleton, UT. He will be wrestling at 133 this season. He is a 2018 NCAA Qualifier and a 2019 Mens Greco National Team Member. This year he will be training both Greco and Folkstyle as he prepares for the Olympic trials in April. 

Kimball Bastian- Redshirt Senior from Mapleton, UT. He will be wrestling 174 this season. He is a two time NCAA Qualifier and earned NWCA Scholar All-American and First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.

Matt Findlay- Redshirt Junior from Draper, Utah. He will be wrestling 149 this season. He was a 2019 NCAA Qualifier and made the round of 12 this past season at the NCAA Tournament.  He also earned NWCA Scholar All-American and First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. He also received the Elite 90 Award from the NCAA. 

Grant Lamont- Redshirt Senior from Mapleton, UT. He will be taking a medical Redshirt this year. In the past seasons he has wrestled both 149 and 157. Last year he earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. 

Chase Trussell- Redshirt Freshman from Morgan, UT. He will be wrestling at 285 this season. In his redshirt year he placed second at both the Cowboy Open and the UVU Open, third at the Northern Colorado Open and fifth at the Reno Tournament of Champions

Jed Loveless- Redshirt Sophomore from Payson, UT. He will be wrestling 157 this year and competing for a varsity spot at UVU. He is a transfer from the University of Wyoming. We are excited to have him return to his home state and wrestle for UVU. 

Jacob Armstrong- Redshirt Freshman from West Mountain, UT (Salem Hills High School). He will be looking to wrestle at 174. He was first at UVU in 2015-2016 then left on a 2 year mission. During that year he went 5-0 at the National Collegiate Open taking 1st place. He will be competing for a varsity spot at 174lbs this year. 

RJ Bingham- Redshirt from Avon, UT (Mt. Crest HS). He will be redshirting this year and will wrestle at 165. He just returned home from a two year mission. 

Derek Fisher- Redshirt from Lehi, UT (Pleasant Grove HS). He will be redshirting this year and will look to wrestle 133 pounds. 

Dylan Gregerson- Sophomore from Bluffdale, UT (Riverton HS). He will be wrestling 133/141 this season. Last year he won the UVU open and placed 2nd at the University Nationals in Greco. He will be training Greco and Folkstyle this year as he gets ready for the Olympic trials in April. 

Spencer Heywood- Redshirt Sophomore from Heber City, UT. He will be wrestling 157 this year and competing against Jed Loveless for a starting spot. His Freshman year he earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. 

Cameron Hunsaker- Redshirt from American Fork, UT.  He returned off his mission about a year ago and will be competing at 141 pounds. He may or may not redshirt for the Wolverines this upcoming season. 

Landon Knutzen- Redshirt Junior from Mapleton, UT. He will be wrestling 149 this season. Last year he earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. Placed second at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic with a 3-1 outing. 

Ashton Seely- Redshirt Sophomore from Nephi, UT. He will be wrestling 197 this season. Last Season he earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. 

Corbin Smith- Redshirt from Midway, UT. He will be redshirting this year and will wrestle 165. He just returned home from a two year mission. 

Koy Wilkinson- Redshirt Junior from Pleasant Grove, UT. He will be wrestling 165 this season. Last year he won the UVU Open and placed 3rd at the Cowboy Open.
