The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

160 pounds

  1. Jeremy Evans (Sr.) Viewmont - 2019 State 2nd place
  2. Cade Bowring (Sr.) Juab - 2019 State Champion
  3. Jaden Stange (Jr.) Mt. Ridge - 2019 State 3rd place
  4. Josh Rassi (Sr.) Syracuse - 2019 State 3rd place
  5. Jordan Davies (So.) Syracuse - 2019 State 4th place
  6. Maverik Skinner (Sr.) Bear River - 2019 State 5th place
  7. James Hornberger (Sr.) Skyridge - 2019 State 6th place
  8. Cole Sederholm (Sr.) Fremont - 2019 State 5th place

Jeremy Evans had a very solid season last year and looks to move up to 160 from 152. #1 Evans and #3 Stange will battle it out for not only the top spot in the whole state but also in 5A as both are 5A this coming season.  Evans won the Layton, Viewmont and Richardson Memorial Tournaments last year falling short at state losing a close battle to Holland Knudsen.  Cade Bowring is our #2 and is a very solid wrestler, now a 2x state he will be looking for his 3rd state title in February.

Stange is a solid #3 and got better as the season went last year so I expect him to continue on an upward trend.  He had some bumps in the road last year but as a Junior this season I expect big things.

Number 4 and 5 are from the same team in Rassi and Davies. I have no idea what the plan for Syracuse is next season but they have to find a way to get both Rassi and Davies in the line up.  Maybe one is down at 152 and everyone shifts down a weight or one grows and gets to 170. Both are solid and both should have great seasons.

Maverik Skinner will start at #6 with Hornberger and Sederholm at #7 and #8. Skinner placed 8th at the Rumble last year but fell to 5th at state. He will look to improve upon that 5th place finish as the top 4A wrestler this upcoming season. Sederholm & Hornberger will be in a tough 6A. Sederholm defeated Kam Moss at state for 5th place and Hornberger placed 6th.

Overall 160 looks to be a weight that isn't as deep or tough as 170. I expect to see some from 170 drop into this weight by Christmas time and shake things up.
