The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

138 pounds

  1. Tyson Humpherys (Sr.) Layton - 2019 State Champion
  2. Sammy Heywood (Sr.) Wasatch - 2019 State Champion
  3. Conner Ingram (Sr.) Juab - 2019 State Runner up
  4. Hadley Cowan (Sr.) Skyridge - 2019 State Runner up
  5. Gabe Sanders (So.) Mt. Crest - 2019 State Champion
  6. Triston Fillmore (Sr.) South Sevier - 2019 State Champion
  7. Parker Frasure (Sr.) Farmington - 2019 State 3rd place
  8. Ryker Pentz (Sr.) N. Summit - 2019 State Champion

Tyson Humpherys recently committed to the Utah Valley Wolverines and starts atop the 138 pound rankings this year. Very solid and will be tough for any of the contenders to beat. His top competition will likely come from #2 Heywood and #3 Ingram. I assume Heywood will end up at 138 as that could be what is best for the team. Ingram I could see down at 132 with Warner up at 138 but for now I have Ingram at 138.

#4 I have Hadley Cowan of Skyridge and #5 is Sanders from Mt. Crest. After the top 3 I think it gets difficult and rankings could be many different ways. Cowan is a senior but getting that state title will be difficult if he goes the same weight as Humpherys since both are 6A. I would not be surprised to see Cowan at 145 this season. Sanders won state as a freshman and I expect him to have an even better season this year. Being in the 4A division I see a pretty clear path to his 2nd state title.

Triston Fillmore comes in at #6, Frasure #7 and Pentz rounding out the top 8. Frasure has not wrestled a ton because of injuries, I hope he can get a full season in and see what he can do. Fillmore will have a difficult time repeating at 138 with Ingram or Warner as a roadblock. In the 3A you also have Korby Christiansen who sits outside the top 8 that will be tough. Pentz will be in the 2A and looks to be able to have a great shot at another state title. Others at this weight to watch for are Korby Christiansen (Emery), Hayden Wilson (American Fork), Zeke Kelley (Pleasant Grove) and Deegan Palmer (Payson).
