Part-time Seasonal Positions

Essential Duties: This is a youth wrestling coach position for the Provo Parks and Recreation Department. The individual appointed to this position will be required to instruct and coach elementary and middle school age youth in basic fundamentals of wrestling; assist in overall coordination of the wrestling program; hold regular after-school practice sessions and coordinate a mid-season dual meet and end-of-season Saturday tournament. Additionally, the coach will be required to assist the Wrestling Coordinator as needed and perform other related duties as necessary.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of wrestling fundamentals and experience in high school and/or collegiate wrestling. Must have good organizational skills and work well with children. Preference will be given to applicants with previous wrestling instructing/coaching experience. 

Wage: $12.00-$15.00 per hour, depending on experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.  

Hours: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:15 PM – 7:45 PM. Some weekend hours will be needed for tournaments 

Duration of Position: October 2019 to December 2019.

Selection Factors: Good working knowledge of collegiate and freestyle wrestling. Practical experience in high school and/or college wrestling. Good public relations skills with children and adults. 

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. PLEASE LIST YOUR SPORTS EXPERIENCE IN THE CERTIFICATIONS SECTION OF THE APPLICATION. Those without sports knowledge listed on their application will not be included in the first round of interviews.  

Physical/Environmental Factors: This position requires physical strength and agility to perform the work, including: teaching and demonstrating proper wrestling technique; the ability to work well with parents and children; and working with the public in sometimes stressful situations.
