The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

120 pounds

  1. Bridger Ricks (So.) Box Elder - 2019 State Champion
  2. Marco Herrera (Sr.) Bingham - 2019 State Champion
  3. Cole Jensen (Sr.) Payson - 2019 State runner up
  4. Denim Torgerson (Jr.) Richfield - 2019 State Champion
  5. Lukus Carrillo (So.) ALA - 2019 State Champion
  6. Aidan Harris (Sr.) Layton - 2019 State Runner Up
  7. Brock Morris (Jr.) Maple Mountain - 2019 State Runner Up
  8. Byron Christiansen (So.) Emery - 2019 State 3rd

Today we take a look at the 120 pound weight class and boy could this weight class be fun! This has the potential to be one of the most solid weight classes and could be ranked so many different ways. Many of the 113lbers will be moving to 120 and add in a couple 106lbers from last year as well. Right now we have Bridger Ricks of Box Elder ranked #1 as he took home the title last year and then went on to defeat Carrillo at the Atlas All-Star Showdown after the state tournament to solidify him finishing #1 at 106. We give Marco Herrera the nod at #2 over Cole Jensen at #3 even though Cole did defeat Marco at the Layton Tournament in December of last year. After Layton, Marco came back and defeated Joseph Mecham and placed 3rd at the Rumble, the same weight class Cole failed to place in. Along with quality wins over Lang and Millward I think Herrera deserves that spot for now.  Cole had a solid season with a convincing win over Torgerson but fell short against Mecham at the state tournament.

At #4 we have Torgerson who was just dominate last year with 55 wins and only 1 loss but that loss came to #3 Cole Jensen at the All-Stars. I would love to see Torgerson at the Rumble this year to see how he stacks up against the other top guys. Carrillo jumps up to 120 this year and possibly 126, it'll be interesting to see how he competes up a few weight classes. He looked great all season at 106, once he started competing at that weight. Carrillo has the talent to move up in the top 4.  Aidan Harris will be on his quest to win a state title his senior season but it won't be easy as he will have to get through Marco Herrera from Bingham. I wouldn't be surprised to see Harris make the cut to 113 after Christmas but, if teammate Quade Smith can't make 106 not sure if that will happen.

Rounding out the top 8 we have Brock Morris from Maple Mountain and Byron Christiansen from Emery. Both are very tough, Morris had a solid season at 106 with a win over Byron.  Morris will make 120 pounds in the 5A a very tough weight, add in Ricks & Jensen and it will make for a very fun state tournament. 3A is the other classification at 120 that could be a good one with Torgerson, Carrillo and Christiansen all battling it out.
