The 2019-2020 High School wrestling season is right around the corner and will be here before you know it. We couldn't wait any longer to dive in and start taking a look at each weight class and what we can expect  for this upcoming season.  We will start with 106 pounds and will go up through the weights one by one, these are regardless of classification. These lists are only guesses and good reading so let us know where we might have missed someone and we will do our best to make adjustments and post updates as they happen.

106 pounds

  1. Will Korth (Morgan) So - 2019 State 2nd
  2. Dallan Hunsaker (American Fork) So - 2019 State 2nd
  3. Trenton Ward (Bear River) Jr. - 2019 State 2nd
  4. Kyison Garcia (Mountain Ridge) Fr.
  5. Jacob Carson (Pleasant Grove) Fr.
  6. Dayson Torgerson (Richfield) Fr.)
  7. Sage Mortimer (ALA) Jr.
  8. Hagen Mayer (Beaver) Fr.

This is one of the more difficult weights to project and rank. With so many new freshman coming into the mix and who knows how many kids will stay down at 106 from the previous year. Also with freshman some of the best may not even be up to weight so we have to factor that in. It is very difficult for even a great freshman to come in weighing 95lbs and have success at 106 against the upperclassmen.

The number 1 wrestler at this weight coming back will be Will Korth from Morgan, a sophomore who placed 2nd in state as a freshman. The question with him is can he make it back down to 106 in a few months. He wrestled 106lbs at Fargo just a few weeks ago and with Morgan having a stacked lower weights it looks like 106 would be what is best for the team. After Will Korth you have Dallan Hunsaker from American Fork, also a sophomore and placed 2nd in state. Dallan wrestled 100 pounds at Fargo so I am sure he will be able to make 106 again and should be a good size 106lber.  Trenton Ward from Bear River will be a Junior and placed 2nd at state last year. He is another that wrestled 106lbs at Fargo a few weeks ago and will be a contender at this weight class and will start the season #3 at 106lbs.

This year's freshman class at 106 pounds has some tough ones including Kysion Garcia, Jacob Carson, & Dayson Torgerson. All 3 should be competing or state titles in their respective classifications. Kyison is a double All American at the USA 16U Freestyle and Greco Roman Nationals (Fargo), the only 16U wrestler in the state to do so. The biggest question mark with Kyison is can he get up to weight. If he can't get over 100 pounds it will be tough for him to beat these bigger, stronger wrestlers. Due to the uncertainty of Kyison's weight we have him starting the season at #4 in the rankings.  Dayson Torgerson has wins over Will Korth from 2 years ago at the Junior High level and will be a threat to defeat any of the top kids. Jacob Carson is growing and seems to be getting up to weight. If he does get up to weight he will be tough to beat in the 6A division and will likely be the #1 challenger to Dallan Hunsaker.
