Sage Mortimer Makes Cadet World Team

This past weekend we had 7 girls from Utah compete in the 2019 Women's Nationals and World Team Trials in Irving, Texas. 6 out of the 7 girls earned All-American Honors with one making the world team. Sage Mortimer lead the way by taking 1st place in the 46KG bracket earning her spot to wrestle for Team USA in the World Championships in Bulgaria. Sage Dominated her way through the main bracket and had to wrestle the best of three finals match against Nyla Valencia from California. Sage lost the first match of best of the three by tech fall 11-0. Sage ended up winning the next two matches 7-2 and a fall in 1:40 to win the weight class. 

The other girls that earned All-American honors were Emeri Mortimer with a 4th place finish, Brooklyn Pace with a 6th place finish, Elleni Johnson with a 6th place finish, Marlynne Deede with a 7th place finish and Kierstein Bush with a 7th place finish. Alyssa Pace also competed at the Women's Nationals but came up short of placing.
