Connor Simons has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for the week of November 21st, 2016.

Connor is in 2nd grade and has been wrestling since he was old enough to walk. He would go to watch his older brother Cahill wrestle and it was impossible to keep him off of the mat. Connor has always been very ambitious and extremely fearless on the mat. Connor’s hobbies include riding horses, shooting guns as well as his bow, he loves camping and hunting with his family. Connor also has an addiction to chocolate, the only conflict this creates is between he and his dad when he is making weight for competition. Connor is a very gifted athlete who excels in many different sports. While Connor is a successful athlete and wrestler he is also a star student, he loves reading and math. He also spends time in class during recess helping others get their work finished.

Connor’s most recent accomplishment is 2016 Freestyle and Greco State Champion, he is also very excited to be a part of Team Utah for the Upper Valley Aces Duals. Connors favorite tournaments that he wrestled in was The Intermountain Warrior Challenge where he finished 2nd, Rocky Mountain Nationals where he finished 6th and the Utah Summer Games where he finished 1st two years in a row. Over the last year Connor has wrestled very aggressively to the record of 93-19, during that time he has wrestled some of the top wrestlers in the nation.

You will always find Connor on the side of the mat in the wrestling gym. When he is not on the mat himself, he is beside his teammates coaching, and cheering from the corners.

Connor has set a hefty goal to win Youth Super State as well as Freestyle and Greco State this season. With a lot of hard work, determination and great coaching we know he can make this happen.
