Denver Hiatt has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for August 23rd, 2015.

Denver Hiatt is the son of Ryan and Dena Hiatt, and the oldest of four children.  He is fourteen years old and lives in Santaquin, Utah.  Denver has wrestled for Payson Wrestling for the past six years and has fallen in love with this sport.   He has been very successful in youth wrestling, with many big wins and multiple state titles.   Although Denver loves the mat, he has never wrestled more than four months of the year.  He plays football every fall, and he is very passionate about baseball where he loves to help lead the team from the catcher's position.  Denver has traveled the USA with a very successful baseball team winning multiple tournaments.  His most memorable baseball moment was when his baseball team won the 2014 USSSA World Series in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Everyone loves Denver's quirky personality.  He is always smiling and having fun, but when it is time to work this kid will out work anyone!  His unspoken leadership constantly motivates and encourages his fellow teammates.  Denver also demonstrates excellence in the classroom where he is a favorite of many teachers and has always maintained a 4.0 GPA.  He loves his family and the time he spends camping, riding his side by side, and fishing with them.  Denver is a great older brother who protects and watches out for all of his siblings and we are grateful for his leadership in our family.

For his freshman year he has high hopes to make varsity and wrestle with Payson High School.  This has been a rough summer for Denver because he has been sidelined due to a broken back.  He has found it very challenging to stay down and obey doctor's orders because he really hates not being active!  He has started the rehabilitation process with the determination and drive to get himself strong enough to be released by wrestling season.

Denver would like to thank his wrestling family for always supporting him and helping him grow.  He loves his coaches Johnny Loveless and Shane Wilson for being such wonderful mentors and looks forward to training with Jeb Clark and the Payson High Wrestling team.

Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week."
