Anthony Herrera has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for June 26th, 2015.

Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week." One for the PreK-9th grade age groups, and one for the high school and above  age group  which will include high  school , college, coaches and teams. The selection committee will consider and choose from nominees based upon performance within wrestling that week.

Anthony will be a sophomore at Stansbury High School. He loves to hang out with his family and friends, play sports, and dominate his brother at ping pong. Anthony started wrestling at a young age, but really dedicated his life to the sport when he reached high school.  He credits his older brother, Jalen Herrera, who is a 2X state placer and a state runner-up for inspiring a passion and drive for the sport. He looks up to his brother and hopes to follow in his footsteps.

Anthony did well this high school season just coming up short of placing at state. He has since put in a lot of extra time and hard work in the off season, and became a Greco State Champion and a Freestyle state runner-up. He qualified for the National Cadet Dual Team and will be going to York, Pennsylvania and Fargo, North Dakota this summer.  His goals are to qualify as an All-American and become a state champion.

Anthony would like to thank his Head Coach, Tyson Linnell, and the rest of the coaching staff, teammates, friends, and family who helped him get where he is today. He would also like to thank the Khoundet family for helping him raise money to travel to national tournaments this summer.  After high school, Anthony hopes to continue wrestling at the college level.
