Lukus Carrillo has been named wrestleutah.com "Athlete of the Week" for October 22nd, 2014.

Each week, wrestleutah.com will select two "Athletes of the Week." One for the PreK-9th grade age groups, and one for the high  school  and above  age group  which will include high  school , college, coaches and teams. The selection committee will consider and choose from nominees based upon performance within wrestling that week.

Lukus is excited about starting wrestling this year.  He ended the season last year with some great wins.  He took 1st place in Utah State Freestyle,   2nd in Utah State Folkstyle, and 3rd in Utah State Greco tournaments. He then went on to take 2nd in Freestyle and 4th in Greco at Western Regionals. He wrestled in the novice 70 lb bracket.  He hopes to learn more this year as he proudly wrestles with Champions Wrestling Club, and hopes to make it to the top of the podium in all three styles.

Lukus is a hard worker on and off of the mat.  He loves wrestling, but also enjoys soccer, basketball, fishing, and camping with his family.  He is a 5th grader at Wilson Elementary in Payson, and excels in school, maintaining straight A’s. He loves to do anything and everything that he can compete in, and recently petitioned his teacher for more physical activities and recesses at school.  Lukus always has a positive attitude and loves to help people learn, whether in sports or at school.   You can always find him on the side of the mat cheering for his team mate as well as his opponents.  His favorite saying is “Winners never quit and Quitters never win!”
