The season is underway and we are updating the Power Polls. These rankings reflect on the information we have available to us so if we don't have access to results or haven't heard how things went then we may be missing a kid or two. Please give us your feedback. Again remember that these are kids and all comments must be appropriate and not offend anyone.
The Power Poll is a ranking of all wrestlers 1A-5A at each weight.
Jaxon Cole will be down to 106 for the Viewpoint tournament and we will see a great match between Cole and Evans hopefully. Vandertoolen lost a close one to Evans and could go either way in the future. Leatherow had a great first tournament at the Layton Tournament and looks to have a great High School career.
Tanner Benedict had a great win at the Layton Tournament over Parker and that boosts him to the #1 spot at 113lbs. Brimhall will be pushing both Benedict and Parker for that top spot in the near future.
Kyson continues to take the top spot, he had a couple scares but kept his composure and came out with a victory. Hunsaker hasn't been pushed yet and looks dominate so far. Poulsen pulled the upset over Cox and nearly pulled the upset over Levin so he takes a jump to number 3. Woolsey had a great win at the Layton tournament. This is a deep weight and will be fun to watch throughout the year.
We have two freshman in the top 10 at 126lbs and they could move up even more with some more wins but they first must get a couple more good wins. Logan had a great run at the Layton and defeated 2x state champion Matt Lee which is why he jumps into the ranking at #6. LaMont is the clear #1 here. We have updated the 126 pound rankings on 12/10/14.
Brock stays on top after a dominating performance at Layton. Ben will be pushing him and hopefully we see that match soon. Kyle Evans was impressive at the Millard Duals. Again we have two freshman in these rankings which is again impressive.
This is probably the deepest weight in the state right now! Manning and Jensen had a barn burner this weekend. Pentz and Hansen were undefeated and looked impressive. This is going to be a great weight to watch and there will be much debate over who is #1 and where do freshman Manning and Moody fit in here. In the next few weeks this weight will continue to play out and we will see who is on top.
Killian pulled the upset over Loveless and takes the #1 spot. Rice won the Layton tournament. Pentz had a big 9-3 win over Larsen from Salem Hills.
Johnny O'hearon is the top of this weight class and looks like he will stay there. There could be a lot of movement in this weight after this weekend's tournaments.
Spencer won the Layton tournament but Stephenson won the Moab Invitational beating Cole Eldredge, Almanza looks tough after he beat Anderson, this weight could shape up to be a tough weight class.
Koy Wilkinson shot up the rankings after defeating Juab's Seely which makes the 5A division have 3 of the top 5 ranked kids and will end up making for a great state tournament.
The top 4 rankings didn't change any. Lang and Foy had a great match and will be fun to see again if it happens.
Brandon Closson moves up to #5 after a great tournament at Millard. Koelling looks dominate at this weight and will be tough to take out of the top spot.
Bowden from Salem Hills dominated the field at the Skyhawk Showdown and will be one to watch climb the rankings.
We have a new number one in Damian Trujillo after taking first at the Layton Invitational and beating some great wrestlers. Ben Bos moves up and Riley Taylor enters our rankings as the only sophomore.
