Before we get into the top incoming freshman let’s take a look back at how our top 10 from last year did. We had three freshman state champs in Hardy (#1), Manning (#2) and Musselman (#4). We had 6 state placers, Ringel (#3 placed 2nd), Moody (#5 placed 3rd), Van Tassell (#6 placed 3rd), Jensen (#7 placed 5th), Warner (#8 placed 2nd), and Cohen (#9 placed 4th). Nine out of the ten placed in state, which leaves this year's freshman with high expectations.

Utah is producing talent and the talent is coming in to High School ready to make noise. This year's top 10 incoming freshman will be no different. This is a list of the 10 wrestlers that we think will make the biggest impact at the High School level as a freshman. What weight class the wrestlers will be wrestling does play into where we rank them. Enjoy!

#1 - Zak Kohler

School: Wasatch High School

Projected weight class: 113

Our  #1 ranked wrestler for this year's Freshman class comes to us as a wrestler that hasn't lost a match (28-0) at a folkstyle state tournament since 2nd grade. Zak has won every single Youth Super State title that you could win since the tournament was started. Can he continue his trend of winning state titles and go at the high school level is yet to be known but coming in at 113lbs and having the workout partners he will have he will for sure be a contender.

#2 - McKay Foy

School: Altamont

Projected weight class: 126/132

McKay looks to continue the Foy legacy with grabbing four state titles. Coming in at around 126 or 132 always proves to be difficult for freshman but McKay proved this summer he is one of the best in the country only losing one match at the National Schoolboy Duals out of 14.

#3 - Isaac Wilcox

School: Olympus High School

Projected weight class: 138/145

Coming in at 138 or 145 could prove to be a challenge but Isaac has the strength to compete at that high of a weight. Isaac won a Youth Super State title and dominated most throughout his youth season last year, we will see if that will translate at the next level.

#4 - Terrell Barraclough

School: Davis High School

Projected weight class: 106lbs

Terrell could be much higher on this list coming in at 106lbs as one of the most talented wrestlers coming in to High School this year. Terrell has a non-stop motor and will cause fits at 106lbs for opponents. Barraclough will have his eye's set on a state title in the 5A division.

#5 - Zackary Johnson

School: Maple Mountain High School

Projected weight class: 152

Zack comes into a tough program and will have the workout partners to help him get to the next level. The question is what weight will he be. Will there be room at 152lbs in the Maple Mountain line up or will he end up at 160lbs which he may be too small for that weight. Either way we know Zack is a very tough kid and will find success at either weight. Johnson is a craddling monster on top and will pick up many bonus point wins.

#6 - Brady Lowry

School: Canyon View

Projected weight class: 126

Brady has some nasty funk and has shown he can beat the best as he does have an off season win over our #1. Brady will compete for a state title and could just grab that title if things fall his way. You can never count Lowry out of any match!

#7 - Cole Zorn

School: Pleasant Grove High School

Projected weight class: 106

Zorn will help the Vikings reload this next year as he competes to become a four-timer in the 5a division. He will be competing with the #4 ranked freshman, Barraclough to get on top of that podium. Zorn is tough from all positions and doesn't get scored on easily.

#8 - Maika Tauteoli

School: Pleasant Grove High School

Projected weight class: 182

Maika is one of the more athletic freshman you will find and coming in at 182lbs could mean he could do some damage. Maika's downfall is sometimes he is a little passive on the mat but with Coach Moore in his corner Maika will be someone not to overlook.

#9 - Jate Frost

School: Union High School

Projected weight class: 106

Jate is a wrestler who has flown under the radar much of the year but not anymore as Jate is ready to explode onto the High School scene. Coming in at 106lbs he will be ready to get that state title.

#10 - Spencer Curtis

School: Maple Mountain High School

Projected weight class: 132

Three-time Youth Super State Champion Curtis lands our #10 spot. Time and time again Spencer has come through at the state tournament and proves he is one of the elite.
